Thousands of workers gather in protest for higher wages

On a cold December morning, thousands of workers have come together to fight for their rights. In multiple port cites including NYC and Chicago, roads have been closed down for the safety of the infuriated workers. The workers carry their children and march down 6th Avenue in hopes of a change.

One worker claims that she was promised a better life in America, but the reality was the complete opposite. “I brought my 3 children with me over 10 years go, but the debt I have to pay only grows.” She continued to share her hardship, and the crowd only nods in agreement. “I live in tenement houses that are meant for pigs: only 1 bathroom per floor, bugs infested in the bedrooms, and a space impossible to live with comfort. Neighbors get annoyed with one another because of paranoia and the hysteria of these unfair conditions.” Different witnesses claim that tenement owners have promised to rebuild tenement house and lower rent, but no action has been pursued. Years have passed of repeated promises, and the residents have become restless.  Instead of begging for change, they have decided to take matters into their own hands. Muckrakers have gathered together and released reports exposing the government of political corruption and slum housing. Many people are infuriated and demand a change. They wish to be offered what America claims to be: a land of freedom. These men and women claim they had better lives in their former homes, and say that they deserve to be treated with mutual respect. They shout out in cries, screaming for more equality and for the government to change their lives. However, the government has not answered, and have given vague answered on how “plans shall be discussed soon”. For now, the crowd seems to be raged and don’t intend on leaving until actual progress is conducted.
